Leedmees – Something Different for the Kinect?

I purchased a Microsoft Kinect just before Christmas last year in a sale, and to be honest – besides the odd game of Kinect Sports, I can’t say I have used it much at all. While a number of games have come out either exclusively for the accessory or had some form of benefit for having one, I don’t think that many of these games have arisen to the challenge of properly using this tool (to at least cater to my tastes) – with I think the public finding better uses for it. It is a new piece of hardware so it is bound to take some time – but with the exception of a few games such as Kinect Adventures and Kinect Sports, I would have preferred to play the game with a controller – as it is more fun flailing your arms around like an idiot when people are around to watch you doing said motions.

At Gamescom, KONAMI have unveiled their upcoming downloadable game Leedmees which can be seen in the trailer above. I think this is a really good way to both encourage use of the body movements and to perhaps have the gamers require more precise movements to complete their objective. Some see the XBox Kinect and Playstation Move as tools for party games… this could very well change that perception slightly.
