For the last few weeks there has been a rumor relating to a potential port of Disgaea 3 to the upcoming Playstation Vita console. When I originally reviewed the game in this websites infancy, I gave it a score of 4.75/5 [A] (My old review system as you can tell) so I was excited to hear that a worthy addition to the Disgaea series would receive a portable console port as its predecessors did. Whilst I was not expecting any official announcement, if at all until the release of the Playstation Vita, it seems like they have already made their intentions clear.
Dengeki Playstation recently announced that there will be a port of Disgaea 3 for the Playstation Vita console until the title Disgaea 3 Return. Whilst there has been no information provided about a potential release date or specifics on any of the new storyline features, they have announced that there shall be at least two new characters and at least four new scenarios for previous gamers of Disgaea 3 to enjoy. As well, they have also stated the intention of redesigning the character portraits to be more in-line with the quality ones in Disgaea 4 – however as of yet it still seems as if they will be keeping the classic SD character sprite designs.
There is currently no word on if there will be an English release of this game at some point, but given that NIS America have released the DS and PSP ports of Disgaea 1 and the PSP port of Disgaea 2, I would like to think there is a decent chance of it arriving over here.
