Bye-Bye Polygons?

I don’t have much knowledge about how graphical design in games  is overall done, instead of following the path of Information Technology I decided to take science as my university degree. However, for both those who enjoy the behind-the-scenes design of game graphics, and those who like myself are more the end-user gamer who enjoys the finished product – this should be of great interest to you. Euclideon is an Australian Group that as you can tell from this video – believes they can and have developed a system where there is unlimited real time rendering without major slowdown, thus potentially limiting the need for polygon-based games. I will leave you to make up your opinion from the video as it explains everything better then I could in text form (A picture says a thousand words and all that), but if this is possible, might mean good things for the gaming industry in the future!
