Last weekend, Aniplex USA held a panel on the NicoNico.com website to show off some of their latest announcements. Sadly…. I was not able to report on it as their streaming page as well as their trailers were region locked anywhere outside of North America from the looks of it. However, thanks to the brilliant PR team of the company – they have supplied me with a summary of the announcements made at the panel which are as follows:
1. Rurouni Kenshin’s OVA: Trust and Betrayal
On the 19th of August, there will be a live screening of the OVA on niconico.com which can be accessed at this page HERE. For those who are in San Francisco on the 27th of August at 2PM – they will also be doing a screening at the J-pop Festival at New People. These screenings are being done to celebrate the release of the OVA’s and Movie on Blu-ray – due out the 24/08 (Trust and Betrayal), 21/09 (Reflection) and 26/10 (Movie).
2. Blue Exorcist
Aniplex USA has picked up the rights to distribute the series Blue Exorcist on DVD. There will be a total of four parts to the series with the first one available on DVD this October. More information on this title can be found at the official website HERE.
3. Oreimo
I believe I have reported on their acquisition before, however Aniplex USA has also picked up the rights to release Oreimo (Aka. My Little Sister Can’t be this Cute, Ore no Imouto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai). They intend on releasing a complete box set of the series this October as well which includes all 12 TV episodes and all four OVAS + extras! Personally I would not object getting my hands on the limited edition as well which has a sizable collection of bonuses such as an artbook, posters et cetera (Click on the image to the left for a full picture of the Limited Edition). More information on the series can be found at the official website HERE.
4. Streaming
For those who like LEGAL anime streams, then you are in luck – as Aniplex USA is going to be running streams of Star Driver and Oreimo on each Crunchyroll, Hulu and Crackle (But I assume limited to only North American access). Two episodes of Star Driver and Oreimo will be premiered every Wednesday.
and that is it for their press conference! A nice sizable collection of announcements from their panel.
