Unfortunately, Nippon Ichi Software America sent through some disappointing news regarding their upcoming release of Disgaea 4 on the PlayStation 3. Whilst the game is still being released and hasn’t been delayed thankfully, there is a small issue of their online mode. Due to certain “rules and regulations” which have not been detailed, they have had to slightly alter the online system, which whilst keeping the key aspects of the online system, have had to make the following changes to the Map Editing System.

  1. Instead of individual blocks to create maps, a number of preset “landforms” will be available for users to create their own maps.
  2. Multiples of the same object, not including geo blocks or characters, cannot be placed next to or on top of each other.
  3. Character and Map Names as well as descriptions will be randomized.
Whilst the core editing system is still there, all the little fun bits and pieces have been taken out. Whilst I don’t like to dwell on unannounced possibilities, why do I get the awful feeling that this was to stop any child seeing a dirty character name or a level designed after ones Gentlemen’s Region. Which if this is the case, is slightly disappointing considering that this is a game rated T…. but that is just a guess on my part, the game will still remain the same and the Pirate Creation System and other Playstation Network systems remain unchanged. Finally, here are some screenshots kindly provided by the NISA PR Team.
