Above is yet another trailer for the upcoming ATLUS USA game, Catherine, which will be available on the 26th of July 2011 in North America on both Playstation 3 and XBox 360 gaming consoles. I already have my order down for it, so you should too as depending on the store, all pre-orders will get a complementary artbook whilst you can also buy a collectors edition with many bonus goodies such as a shirt, boxer shorts, pizza box etc, all of which are designed from ingame items. Here is the official blurb for the trailer:
The new video introduces viewers to a growing phenomenon that has just recently enveloped Vincent, the game’s protagonist. When he goes to sleep every night, he finds himself in the middle of twisted, terrifying nightmares, forced to climb up before his footing gives way and he plummets to his demise, and away from horrific manifestations in order to stay alive. Moreover, Vincent is not alone in this challenge; other men are struggling through the same supernatural maze. All of this is, of course, complementary to the dilemmas Vincent creates for himself during the day in his interpersonal relationships.
As you may be aware, a short while before the game was released in Japan, there was a Japanese demo that was available for a limited time that covered two ingame levels and a phone conversation at the Stray Sheep bar. Well, fortunately on the 12th of July, a demo will be posted up on both PSN and XBox Live stores so you can experience the game first hand in English. As of yet, I don’t believe it is a limited time demo, but do get it as early as you can to help justify your decision to buy it or not. Here is the official blurb for the trailer:
The July 12 demo will introduce players to the main characters, particularly Vincent and his growing sense of panic at repeatedly finding himself within terror-filled nightmares. Fans can enjoy the stunning anime from Studio 4°C, the beautifully rendered in-engine cutscenes, and get their first hands-on with Catherine’s core gameplay as they navigate Vincent through his nightmares. Even North American gamers who tried the Japanese demo will have reason to download, as it will offer them a chance to preview to the English voice track. Fans are encouraged to log onto their platform of choice download the Catherine demo early next week!
For those wondering about a possible Australian release, whilst there is nothing available online regarding this, apparently EB Games stores around Australia have it mentioned in their system, indicating a slight chance of a release over here, however I have no details on any publishers if any there is for the game. Either way, there is always the option to import the Playstation 3 version (The XBox360 version will not work on Australian consoles due to the region lock). To conclude this article, I have even more screenshots for your viewing pleasure.
