For those that do not know, Madman Entertainment runs weekly anime showings on channel 31/44 in most Australian States for an Anime Hour. Whilst I have never actually tuned into the showings, they have recently been having Gurren Lagann and Gundam 00 airing one episode each week. However, it seems like their latest supply of anime has run out, meaning they need new series to air. They have announced that starting this month, two new series will replace them, Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood and Black Butler. Whilst I have never observed FMA before, I have done reviews on the entire first season of Black Butler, in which they can be found HERE and HERE. So if you have been wary about purchasing either of these series, tune in to the station and check both of these out!
As of Feburary 2011, the screening times for anime on this station was:
Anime Hour on your local TV is as follows, all are on Channel 31 (analogue) / 44(digital):
- Mondays- Melbourne 10:30pm
- Thursdays – Brisbane 8:30pm /2am replay
- Saturdays – Sydney (8:30pm), Perth 10:30pm Gundam 00
- Sundays – Perth 10:30pm Gurren Lagann
Now, on to other news, WELCOME TO WINTER (or Summer)! Over here in Australia we are getting set for some freezing cold weather, and therefore it is the best time to get rugged up, sit infront of the TV and go through your pile of anime, manga and games to seek enjoyment (Yes, I know the government advises you to go out and get active, but it is cold!). This month on The Otaku’s Study, I have the Siren Visual titles from last month still to be reviewed and hopefully they will start coming out by the end of the week, alongside my review of C for Control. I also have a few game reviews, oldish anime titles hopefully to review and anything I manage to get on my Birthday will be added to the pile. Over the next few days, I will be releasing my normal release schedule for the month, however I would like to quickly advise you of a new retro cartoon being released by Madman Entertainment. Earthworm Jim is due out… today in at least JB Hi-fi stores , so watch this trailer for it, it might just be a nice series to tide you over until this months release.
In terms of games, White Knight Chronicles 2 is due out in the second week of this month, alongside Record of Agarest War Zero due out on the 13th… and that is only a few of the quality Japanese games making their way to the English market this month!
Overall, look forward to lots of new content on this site in the coming month!
