To be honest, I originally brushed this notice off as it was seemingly only an announcement for EU regions, however as I was doing my occasional browse on the Australian Playstation Forums, there was an announcement from Pretoria, a member of the Community Team that the game would also be coming out in Australia in May. “Yippee!” I thought and have now dashed to this site to write this up. White Knight Chronicles if you don’t already know, is a two part series by Level-5, which, in the first game, had a group of travelers going around the world looking for Princess Cisna. The game generally progressed like a Mario game where they would find her, and yet due to their own stupidity or lack of concentration, lost her again (Very “Your Princess is in another Castle”).
This game follows on the aftermath of this event, with several gameplay improvements including:
- A 30+ hour single player campaign.
- Redesigned combat system.
- 6 Players in online mode over the original 4 (Not sure if this covers offline play as well).
- Your avatar gets a nice boost in importance, being able to control his or her own knight.
and many more things which will no doubt be announced as time goes on. The game is currently slated to be released in May in both EU and Australia/New Zealand regions, with no current North American release date. It is being published by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe if memory serves me right.
However, they have also announced a second title for release at or around the same time known as White Knight Chronicles: Origins for the PSP. This game takes place 10,000 years prior to the events of White Knight Chronicles on the PS3 and is set during the time of the Dogma Wars. Not much is really known about this title yet, however it seems like the core gameplay elements will remain the same.
I leave you with the original Japanese trailer of White Knight Chronicles 2, as there is no current english trailer.
