Howdy-ho all!
Sadly I had planned a review tonight, however a crash of Google Chrome (My new love in internet browsers) lead to me losing the nearly finished review, without a draft copy being in existence for some odd reason. Anyway, tomorrow is my day off so I have a review of Clannad: Part 2 by Siren Visual alongside a mystery game and another anime review! So, look forward to them then.
Mental Note: Make offline draft backups.
Edit: Oh, and by “today” I mean’t the 10th of February, as the clock just ticked over when I posted this.
Now for the main purpose of this article…. the actual review of titles. Whilst I have been refining the way I present the articles in term of images used, the start of all the posts with the titles information and the likes, I have recently been getting really peeved off with the number system I have been using. Whilst I understand that I was the one that penned the use of it on my blog in the first place, I have decided that it makes it look a bit weird if I suddenly start giving low scores for small factors and then giving the title a high score overall…. so I am now using the generic E – A grading system. This will eventually make its way to the Reviews section of the site, I shall add a small blurb about each of the grades…. incase you have never seen or heard of the grading system….
E: Represents a 0 – 1 on the old System
For Individual Category – Well below the standard expected from any category. If you are purchasing a title for this specific category alone, then run away and never look back if you see the title in the store. Otherwise for categories such as extras, just not there.
For Overall Score – I hope I never have to give this title out, but as I said in the above section….. RUN AWAY!
D: Represents a 2 – 4 on the old System
For Individual Category – It isn’t so bad that it looks like the person was severely drunk whilst doing the specific criteria, however there is a lack of quality that is disappointing to me. Otherwise it was been omitted or is unimportant.
For Overall Score – Fans of the genre may like it, however for those interesting in trying out a genre they are not familiar is, they may be better off trying a title
C: Represents a 4 – 6.5 on the old System
For Individual Category – Average and all around in the specific category.
For Overall Score – As above, an overall average title, not a bad title by any means.
B: Represents a 6.5 – 8.5 on the old System
For Individual Category – A good series for the specific category. May have one or two specific flaws but it is overall appropriate.
For Overall Score – A great series for fans of the genre, and a good title for anyone to enjoy!
A: Represents an 8.5 – 10 on the old System
For Individual Category – Near flawless if not flawless. It is the definition of greatness in the particular category.
For Overall Score – A title I would highly recommend to everyone!
S: Represents a Perfect Score on the old System
For Individual Category – Not applicable
For Overall Score – This is a score that I will give the few titles I would hope that every fan of anime/manga/games/whatever genre the title is would have or strive to have in their collection. This is more heavily weighted on things such as storyline, gameplay etc then visual appeal or little things like extras.
+’s and -’s will be added when necessary, however I believe the letter grading system is a bit more specific then the vague number system. Some of the more recent reviews will be converted over to this letter system soon.
