Yesterdayish, Nippon Ichi Software in Japan unveiled their brand new animated opening cinematic for Disgaea 4, which is coming out in both Japanese and English regions around early-mid 2011. As seen in previous trailers, it follows the story of a Vampire, which is once again different from any previous Disgaea game (Prince Overlord, Demon Hunter and Demon Students in Disgaea 1, 2 and 3 respectively). You might think this is just cashing off the big Twilight boom that has half the world screaming “OMG! TEAM JACOB!” or “OMFG! TEAM EDWARD!” but thankfully there will be none of this, as this Vampire is a REAL vampire, the type that sucks blood and wears the awesome cape etc. As well, we have a Prinny Cosplayer (??) which will hopefully lead to some interesting storylines with it…. of course, hopefully she doesnt strap a bomb to herself like another imfamous Nippon Ichi character.
Just a few comments I would like to make…… after the jump!
0:40 – It seems like The Dark Hero Axel is once again returning after his PSP Disgaea 2 special chapter. Never been a big fan of him so I am disappointed it is not Asagi being one up than usual by being a sidekick to the main character.
0:46 - It seems like he may have a certain Princess he is hunting down….. being Nippon Ichi I wonder if this is a chance to poke fun at the BowserxPeach relationship in the Super Mario games.
1:00 – OH NO! Someone seemingly brighter then FLONNE!
1:04 - Time for the production titled “Making of Prinnies” documentary series.
1:46 – What do you guys think…. evil Flonne? A family member of Flonne? or none of the above?
2:03 – About time they had the Prinnies dancing instead of exploding!
and for some miscellaneous comments….
- It is pretty disappointing that they didnt sneak any hints as to bonus characters like they did Disgaea 3, however hopefully they will add some of the more popular ones, possibly some characters from newer game series such as Zettai Hero Project and maybe even Trinity Universe for example?
Anyway, I have got some exam essays to prepare for, so happy viewing for now!
