So, how did everyone enjoy their Easter break? Managed to get through the chocolates that your endless number of relatives decided to give you? Somehow I managed to get through them… as in, finished them this morning. As you may have noticed, there has been some downtime on this blog the last few months with only a few scattered reviews and no anime reviews at all. Therefore, I have decided to restructure this blog entirely (Again) in order to keep the flow of reviews coming, since it will provide an environment where I wont have to go out of my way to do reviews. The following changes are going to be listed below.
Anime
- Due to the lack of interesting new anime to me, as well as my lack of enthusiasm to review each episode individually, there will be no more episode by episode reviews at all.
- There will be reviews however, they shall come under three different types.
- Full Series Reviews – This is for series that I have already completed and I am reviewing as a overall series. No episode by episode, just my thoughts on the whole series…. since I assume most people buy a series because of the overall value of the series, not one or two good episodes surrounded by crap.
- Arc Reviews - May be considered for series such as Umineko and Higurashi, which come in sets of arcs. This will just cover individual thoughts on the arc and will most likely be compiled into a full series review at a later date.
- Not-Full-Series Review – Don’t be fooled by this, this is not an episode by episode review, instead, it will usually only occur when either I cannot get further episodes anymore or more likely, I get bored to tears with the series and decide enough is enough. Sorry, I dont want to force myself to watch a boring series for you.
- Review scoring will no longer have the awkward numbering system I used. Instead, each category shall be placed out of 10 and then another score out of 10 will be placed at the score (Not average score however).
Manga
- The only change to the manga reviews I am making is that I am using the same /10 system as the anime reviews.
Games
- The game review scoring shall be the same system as anime/manga reviews.
- I am going to be focusing on reviews from the following latest-gen consoles: Nintendo Wii, Playstation 3, Playstation Portable, Nintendo DS, PC. However, I also want to review more older games from the following consoles: Gameboy, Nintendo 64, Nintendo Gamecube, Playstation 2 and heck, maybe throw in a DOS game or two if I can find some in my old floppy disk collection (Yes, my computer has a Floppy Disk drive)
New Features
- I am finally going to try and get the Encyclopedia up of all content I have reviewed, else I might ditch the whole encyclopedia thing.
- I want to review some soundtracks, specifically game and anime soundtracks since I do have a sizable collection that I want to review.
- Some event reviews, since whilst Australia doesnt have much in terms of events for the otaku, there are a few scattered ones that are on, such as Supanova which I havent been able to attend due to exams. As well, I would love to give my review on the brand new Mana Bar which is open in Brisbane but I have yet to have the time to go to.
- New blog theme maybe…. got to find one or I might reuse the one that I used prior to this, since this one has a few bugs in it and doesn’t work for all browsers.
- More general articles, need more of them definitely! Showcase some of my favorite stuff from the internet!
That is all I can think of at the moment, will add things as they come to mind. Please keep an eye out for the new refreshed “The Otaku’s Study”
