Opening Theme

POO by Neko Jump

Erm…. okay, well the first thing that should be noted is that despite the name being Poo (Which I am sure if any english song was named that it would cause some raised eyebrows), the song is actually in Thai and I am pretty sure it has a different meaning. After reading some translated lyrics (and watching a movie involving Mr Bean dancing to the song), it has something to do about how it is good to dream about snakes however they only dream about crabs, or something like that. Despite that, the song is actually pretty enjoyable. The animation however, I suppose it suitable for a kids anime. The three main characters dancing in the same style is looped quite a bit throughout the opening and whilst it may look cute at first, by the end you might end up be screaming from some more time spent on just the dancing scenes. The rest of it however is overly cute.

Ending Theme

ช่วยมัดหน่อย (Chuai Mad Noi) by Neko Jump

Okay, unlike the other song, I have no idea what it means since I couldnt find any lyrics or information on the song. Anyway, I suppose they skipped the repetitive animation and actually opted for graphics I would expect in a kids picture book. The animation is pretty good, still overly cute but hey, it is a kids show so what do you expect. The music is pretty good as well, might not be as enjoyable as the opening but still something you can listen to without cringing.

Opinion

Let me be frank… the only reason why I decided to watch this was the fact that I couldn’t find any other blogs really focusing on it so I thought I might as well give it a shot and try and either promote or warn viewers of it. To be honest, I can’t really do either since it is obviously a show that really depends on the person. More on that later anyway.

Graphics are overly cute and what I would expect from a kids anime. Unlike a lot of the series I have been watching as of late, there is no crazy evil laughs, no blood and no impossible murder scenes. Instead, it was actually very odd to go back to the style of shows I watched as a kid. The colours used were bright and cheerful and it kept everything at a very positive level. Character designs were average, not as realistic as other shows but good enough for a show like this. The animal costumes however are definately odd, and not something I have seen before, since it is more like a costume you would see at a theme park rather than a normal cosplay.

Music isn’t something I really payed attention to in this episode however it is what you expect, more soft and classical music than anything else, which is not really my style. The voice acting is okay as well, some good voice actors.

Characters are overall set in a positive nature throughout the episode and arent too shocked by the strange turn of events. Of course you arent going to see people going insane in this series however. The two male characters seen periodically (Ken and Tamao is memory serves me right) also don’t seem as shocked as the normal person would be to see their friends turn into animals.

Storyline wise, nothing special at all however the only thing that would keep me interested in watching would just be to find out what they mean by “Animal Detectives” since I somehow doubt it will be anything like most detective shows you see in anime today.

In all seriousness, It was more curiosity that got me watching this episode and really, at 50 episodes apparantly there is little to no chance I will be blogging this even if no other blog picks it up, I think it wouldn’t manage to catch my attention that much. It is truly a kids show which isn’t something I plan to blog… especially considering my history over the last few months. However, I do welcome you to give this series a try if you like the kid shows or want to use it as an educational resource (Since of its target audience, it could be a good series to improve your Japanese skills).
