OP Theme: I liked the song remix, and I consider it  one of the best Happy Material remixes. However on the other hand, I was very disappointed with the animation. Something about the pool table and balls doesn’t really make my enjoy it…

ED Theme: This is also a remix of a previous opening song. I rather liked this one and it is similar to the other OVA introductions with different artwork. I was really pleased with this.

Graphics: I am happy to say that the graphics of this are ten times better than any other Negima anime or OVA that has been done previously. The attention to character designs have improved, with them being much more detailed and keeping to the exact style of the manga, such as Chachamaru’s hair which is good. The magic scenes surrounding Negi, Chao, Yue and Nodoka in their respective parts were also very high quality with them paying much more attention to them then previously. This quality didn’t even drop for the minor characters which was also good to see that not all effort was put into the main characters. Since it hasn’t been done before, Kotaro and Ku:nel were designed rather well and kept well with their manga characters.

Sound: More music has been created for this OVA and I must say, I really like it. Several songs, especially surrounding the music scenes were very well done. Suited the moon greatly at all times.

Storyline/Characters: Up until to the theme, I was really enjoying it, and I was hoping that this episode would surround the end of the festival however I was a little bit disappointed after finding out it would actually skip all of that (Althrough I guess I did think that would happen). Anyway, the storyline focuses on the manga storyline so I guess I didn’t expect anything new, however it was still good to see it animated, since this is the first time the whole series will follow the manga. It was unfortunate how all characters didn’t get a big speaking role. Nothing much can be commented on characters as there was nothing much new.

Overall Rating:

Graphics: 5/5

Sound: 4.5/5

Storyline/Characters: 3.5/5

Themes: 3.5/5

Total: 16.5/20 (A)
