Anime Themes Review – Sekirei and Koihime†Musou

Since I am not planning on doing much blogging in regards to individual episodes, here is my review on just a few of the theme songs that I viewed while watching the anime of this season. No video links this time, internet speed is very slow until a few days so I will not be able to post videos here. Also note:

Review: I was hoping that something good in regards to opening themes would pop up this season, as there has always been one outstanding opening. This, is quite possibly the one I have been after. First of all, graphics wise, it is very high quality and very fast paced. They seem to have gone all-out with the graphical quality here as they seemed to put in as much detail into everything than possible. The song was also very upbeat that worked well with the fast paced animation. Definately not a boring point within the song and managed to keep my interest through the whole thing without me skipping through any of it. My only complaint here was a few seconds here-and-there of Musubi’s breasts being very evident as being big. (Especially Image 3). All-in-all however, a very high quality theme.

Review: First of all, when I first watched this, the scene in Image 1 interested me quite a bit as it reminded me of the Disgaea Combo System where if you performed a combo, all the characters heads would scroll by the screen in the exact same fashion. Getting back to the review, it is very hard to make a good ending theme to pass by my and this actually gets past my requirements. The animation was rather fun to watch with the very creepy Minato and Musubi in bed scene (Image 7) to the classic blood nose (Image 2). Once again, my only problem with the graphics was the few seconds of scenes which involved trying to deliver light fanservice to people (As mentioned in the opening theme). The song was not one I would usually listen to but it suited the animation and it did an effective job in concluding the episode.

Review: The chosen song was good, however I felt that it didn’t have as much impact on me than other shows currently this season. I do not know why this is but this does not mean that it is a bad song in any way. The song was fast paced altogether however at times I felt that the tone varied just a little bit too much. However, I did like it with how upbeat it was and that it worked well with the animation. The graphics and animation were also good with the animation not being affected at all by the fast-pace of it. I also liked how it didn’t actually show violence but it demonstrated that it did involve some amount of violence. Also good to pick out similar looking characters in it from other animes such as Setsuna from Negima.

Review: I really enjoyed this ending. I have not seen chibi style in anime for ages now and it was great to finally see it in an ending theme. First up, the animation was simple, with four of the characters sitting around a table eating food while all the other characters from the series kept attacking them or stealing food. The chibi-style graphics were also a very nice touch and they were drawn very nicely, well in comparison to the actual anime character. The song was also very good and worked well with the animation to get me interested in watching it all the way through instead of just skipping them. I can finally say with with both this ending and the Sekirei ending, it has renewed by faith in ending themes.

These are just two of the opening themes I am going to be reviewing, I am going to be doing a few more over the next few days.
