Moetan – Episode 6

curiositykilledthecat Moetan Episode 6

This episode of Moetan is the “Removed Episode” that was replaced by a recap episode during its original run. It has recently been released and I wasn’t planning on watching or reviewing it but as they say “Curiosity killed the cat”. I cannot see much that would have had it removed if they used the Moetan censoring used on the episode before but I guess it was a good thing that it was removed. Now, on to the review!

Summary: Mio is walking through town when she comes across one of the raffle games. She looks at the list of prizes and the forth prize stands out to her which is a stuffed dog toy. She goes into her serious mode once again and ends up winning a ticket for two to somewhere (Forgot where :p). Of course, she has no need for it but after talking to Nao, she gets the idea of giving the two tickets to Ink and Nao for a date, thus the episodes title, “The First Date”

Ink and her mother are making cookies while they discuss random topics. The phone rings and when Ink picks it up, Mio is on the phone telling her about what has happened. During the phone call, Ink goes really happy screaming with joy which comes to the attention of her mother and father. In her room, she is deciding what to wear on their date while Ark watches on imagining her in different cosplay outfits which in the end, cause him to drool. Outside the window, Ka-kun is watching them.

At Sumi’s mansion, Sumi is once again attempting to do her homework with Ruriko standing nearby watching her and attempting to teach her. In the end, Sumi falls asleep in which she has a dream she is transforming. Ruriko notices her laughing which causes her to be hit by a shoe. Still asleep, Sumi dreams she is flying a rocket up into space with Ruriko guiding her. Ruriko proceeds to increase her workload and leave her alone for awhile. Nearby, the police officer once again is looking for Dandy and chases him around the neighborhood. Back at the mansion, Ka-kun tells Sumi what he saw, she gets angry at him, whacks him across the room and he is then hit again by Ruriko who is aggravated at how loud Sumi is.

It is the big day for Ink and as Nao is waiting for her, Ink receives a distress call and follows it. It is once again the old man and there are more random scenes with him. Ink finally meets up with Nao and they have a flashback of when they were young. They proceed to walk around some park and in the end, come up to a petting zoo where Ink proceeds to pet a Rabbit. The two of them accidentally get separated and Ink is now worried that he has ditched her. While Nao asks around for her location, Ink runs into Dandy who pops out of a garbage bin. While they talk for a bit, the police man catches up to him and he runs off.

They finally meet up and they go and have dinner in a bento that Ink made for the two of them. In it, much to Ink’s horror is the biscuits she and her mother made. Nao said they were good through and she was relieved for it. That night, Sumi goes to the same park only to find it shut. The episode ends here.

Summary: With a few of the scenes in this episode, I guess I can see why it was taken off air although they could have simply done the censorship and it would have been easily broadcastable. It feels weird reviewing a series that I haven’t done in ages and it is similar to the Manabi Straight OVA that I had to relearn all the character names because I hadn’t watched it in so long. The episode was okay, it wasn’t the best nor was it the worst but somewhere in between. Wouldn’t have called it much of a date through.
