Summary: At the Irie clinic, Irie hears a sound outside and looks out the window. He notices the Yamainu members carrying the unconscious body of Tomitake into the building. (So much for the Tomitake vs Yamainu brawl I was hoping for). Irie remembers the warning system both him and Akasaka had in place using the phone so he uses it to warn him that they are in danger. The Yamainu log this phone call and while this happens, he makes an escape attempt from the building. The Yamainu are in close persuit and they manage to blow a tyre out of Irie’s car and he can no longer control the car.

Akasaka on the other hand manages to get the message from Irie that they are in danger and he attempts to escape however the Yamainu who are watching the house also go after him. After running through the festival, Akasaka finally decides to turn around and attack his stalkers. Nearby, Irie is in his car which had fallen off a cliff and stuck sideways between two rocks. He is inside severely injured.

With a good stroke of luck, Shion and Kasai are driving on the same stretch of road and notice Irie walking out of the ruins and then collapsing on the ground. Kasai notices the state of the tyres and they realize that they were shot. In the end, they put him in the back of the car and take them to the Sonozaki Residence. Unknown to them however, under the collar of Irie’s shirt, a small tracking device has been placed which the Yamainu is using to follow them. Takano is still stressed out about all of this and working out plans on what to do using maps as well as the tracking device. The find out that he is heading towards the Sonozaki Residence.

Everyone is in the underground cavern and watch Irie, Shion and Kasai enter the area. Noticing Irie was injured, Keiichi, Mion and Rena go out to help them. Shion and Mion get into a fight almost instantly about safety and what happened. When they head off towards the caverns, they leave the entrance door open and the Yamainu park in front of it. Back with Takano, she is with Tomitake and basically teasing him. When the Yamainu enter the property, they see the group running off and attempt to persue them but in the end, fall for Satoko’s traps.

When they finally reach the cavern, Mion locks them into the building (One door doesn’t seem like much protection) and Shion and Kasai, who seem to not know about the plan are confused with what is going on. In the lower area of the cavern, Rika, Satoko and Hanyuu are watching a group of TV monitors for the different security cameras while the Yamainu bang on the door upstairs. Now I am not sure what Mion does but she either turns off all the power using a phone or the Yamainu manage to cut the power. Either way, upstairs they use explosives in sync with the fireworks of the festival to break down the door. The groups flees the area and heads off to the well which has small stairs engraved in it to create some sort of safe place. (The same well mentioned in previous arcs where bodies were dumped)

Mion is the first to go down and once she is sure it is safe, Rika goes down and almost falls off the ladder. Keiichi is the last one to go down into the well as Shion and Kasai say they will stay in the upper levels and try and protect the rest of them with guns (Might I say, a gun sure suits Shion ^^). After Keiichi gives in to going down the well, Shion whispers something in her ear which is inaudible. When Keiichi reaches the bottom of the well, explosions happen and everyone is now scared with Mion calling Shion stupid and Rika is back in her depressive mode saying that they may fail.

Shion and Kasai were overpowered however and they appear over the top of the well. They offer to trade Shion’s life for Rika and they show the unconscious Shion as evidence of this. The group then falls to pieces. Irie warns everyone else to run for their lives, Mion is crying over the danger her sister is in, Satoko mentions that Shion is her neenee (I was wondering if this would pop up as a change from niinii) and more importantly, Rika calls Hanyuu a worthless god that can’t save them which earns her a slap in the face. Hanyuu talks to her for a bit and then Rika decides to give herself up.

In exchange for this however, they must also take her to Takano and withdraw the troops from the area so noone else would be hurt. When she gets outside, she faces the head of the Yamainu Okonagi who orders the members to go after the group despite their deal. She is aggravated by this and makes a dash to run away however she is restrained and gagged while another member pulls out a syringe which I presume would be the cause of Tomitake’s death in every other arc and heads towards her. Before the person can reach her however, he is kicked in the head by another member who turns out to be Akasaka in disguise. He removes Rika’s gag and tells her to keep out of the way and not to look. When she does that, he suddenly uses martial arts which manages to defeat all the members, even Okonagi.

At that moment, the rest of the members come running out of the residence and along with the already defeated, manage to flee with Shion and Kasai behind them carrying their guns. Everyone else emerges out soon and pleased they made it through what just happened. After the credits, Irie and Shion discuss the message she told Keiichi where she mentions something about Satoshi to him. Irie tells her that Satoshi is still alive much to the pleasure of her. While making plans for their next move, Shion walks in and covers Satoko’s ears. She says that she will continue to help them and that she found out that Satoshi is still alive however not in an obvious way. She removes her hands from Satoko’s ears and Satoko asks her why she did it. Outside, the festival is still going on.

Review: Wow… this must be the second biggest episode this series, with it being around par with Episode 13. Surprising how skilled some of the people were and I thought Mion was the one who carried the gun and now sweet, softer Shion is the one pulling out the big ones. Next episode should see them possibly attempting to free Satoshi from where ever he is as well as more fights against the Yamainu. I also wonder what happened to Ooishi and if he will assist the children anymore as it seems a shame not to give him a chance to fight against these people, even if he does lose his retirement fund. There are two ways I can see this next episode going.

  1. They can continue how they are going now and span it over two episodes and leaving it with the conclusion
  2. They can wrap up everything next episode and have the last episode being some sort of aftermath

I do think number 1 is almost certain to happen through. Very informative episode this week and it is a definite shame to have this series coming to an end.
