Summary:
- Rika is at the enterance to the Furude shrine when she meets up with Irie and Tomitake who are both in on the plan to save this world. They are then met by Ooishi who has Akasaka behind him who was the one who got Ooishi involved. Rika starts crying and goes to hug him while he greets the other two.
- They all decide that they will work together to bring Takano down however they ask Ooishi to consider it as if anything goes wrong, then he could lose his retirement payment which up until this point, has been very important to him.
- As the rest of the group now knows, Rika sits down to talk to them about what they could do and Keiichi gets in the mood by encouraging each of them what they can do, especially focusing on Satoko and her traps. He also flatters Hanyuu by saying she knows them perfectly.
- In Irie’s office, he asks Takano about her plans after they are closed down. She mentions her grandfathers work and tells him a bit about him.
- Back with the group, Rika mentions that Akasaka is in their house currently pretending the three girls are home. Tomitake is also in a random hotel in Okinomiya collecting information from his special sources. After mentioning about how after Rika dies, everyone gets infected with the Himizawa syndrome, Keiichi and Satoko come up with a good idea, fake Rika’s death so Takano will be fooled and noone will be affected by the syndrome.
- Back with Akasaka, Irie secretly enters the girls home and discusses communication methods of what to do if either of them are in danger as the phone is being traced.
- Back with the group, Ooishi is now talking to them about what they are planning on doing and they still encourage him to drop out of the project as he could lose his bonus. His job would be to feed information to the public that Rika died. He plans on getting some of his trustworthy colleagues involved. Hanyuu also says that if he loses his payment, Mion will gladly refund him the money for his trouble (Mion does a very kawaii mii~ from this)
- At the festival preparations, Irie is talking to some villagers worried about the three girls being sick and from both the villagers and Oryou claims that they do not hold any grudge against Satoko at all and that they are all upset by the three girls being sick.
- Ooishi is at a grave talking to it about how the Sonozaki family isn’t behind the murders and that he will keep searching for the murderer. Both Shion and her mother walk in with flowers and a box of Oryou’s ohagi as an offering and they discuss the incidents. Ooishi decides to work with the group in order to expose Takano.
- After the credits, Ooishi is talking to his associates and they all agree to help him.
Review: This was a very good episode as it sets the pathway for the last four episodes of the Higurashi series. Seems like their attempts to hide Rika will fail due to the number of possible failure methods that can occur but with the group working around Rika, I am sure they will at least keep her safe for the time being. I will post up the next episode of Higurashi either tonight or tomorrow and I have my review of the second arc Watanagashi-hen to also post up soon!
