Summary: While I am not not expecting anything close to the Kyoto Arc in this series anymore, they have come up with the episode everyone has been dying to watch, the Konoka x Setsuna episode! This episode starts out in a very Negimaish way with Konoka and Setsuna being in the backseat of a car sharing a passionate kiss until Setsuna realizes what she is doing. She appologizes over and over again but Konoka does not mind at all. While Konoka has a talk with her grandfather Konoemon (The school Dean), Setsuna is outside waiting for her and remembering a time when they were young, she was practicing her kendo while Konoka was running out to give her some sort of candy. She trips and falls and while Konoka doesn’t have a care in the world about it, Setsuna starts crying. (That is right… another child crying scene).
Back in the apartment complex, Asuna and Negi are along in the room when he receives a letter from his big sister Nekane. They have a discussion about the partner process and like all other series, Asuna is hesitant on what to do. This is short lived as Konoka snuck in and heard about Negi looking for a partner. Of course, those three arent the only ones who know, outside their door, Kazumi is making notes on what they are saying and from there on, word spreads.
The next day in class, a few of Negi’s students heard what Kazumi wrote and started chasing him around to give him a kiss which leads him to Shizuna’s Office. While it is only temporary refuge, when the students come barging in on top of him, he manages to swap locations with Takahata-sensei and when the students realize what they have done, they run off in shock. Negi is near a statue talking to Chamo when Konoka comes up to him in a Kimono and start talking about being partners. Unfortunately, Setsuna is also nearby and when she hears about it, creates a talisman which binds Negi to the rock. When they have gone, he casts a spell which blows it away with the wind.
When the two girls arrive at the Konoe mansion, Negi is there waiting for them. Setsuna forces Konoka inside, causing her to drop a jar of candy. While they both fight, Setsuna comes out victorious, pushing Negi backwards as far as she could. They talk for a bit and settle their differences. She also mentions the flashback event to him which has her pick up the bag of candy and give it to her. By the time they talk to the school dean, they are all friendly again. That is basically it for this episode.
Review: Seems like we have some promising news and some rather sad news. The good news is that we SHOULD be expecting a vampire arc soon as they have brought in the partner system although it seems Chamo might still be out of the picture for that. The bad news however is no Kyoto arc which is a real shame.
I really enjoyed this episode and all the special effects they used were rather good except for Setsuna’s talisman which was a little bit disappointing. Everything else is rather good and I am looking forward to the next episode!
