Summary: This episode starts of with a bang… literally. A young Satoko is running up to her parents however instead of stopping, she pushes them off a cliff and into the raging ocean bellow. All the while, Hanyuu is saying there is nothing she could do in the background.

In the hospital, Takano and Irie are looking over Satoko’s notes and Takano suggests they dissect her and do tests on her while she is alive. Of course, Irie didnt agree to this and spent the rest of the time at Satoko’s bedside looking at her. That night, Irie and Mr Furude are talking about a plan and Irie drops him off at the front of the shrine. When he enters, his wife and Rika are there waiting for him and they talk about what happens and the supposed “Curse of Oyashiro”. Mr Furude offers Rika a chance at helping Satoko by letting Irie to some tests on her, which she agrees with.

In Irie’s office the day later after doing a test with Rika, Irie is looking at a photo of his family who caused him to have a tragic past and that is the reason why he wanted to take up medicine as a profession. At a meeting, Irie recieves a phone call from Dr Takano and saying how good she is doing following her legacy.

In the hospital, Irie is taking a blood sample from Rika, and she mentions that Satoshi is coming down with the same symptoms as Satoko did and asks Irie to help him. A few days later, Satoko is getting a bit worse and Ooishi comes to talk to Irie, like in most arcs, they go for a little drive around Himizawa. Ooishi mentions that Satoko claimed she didnt murder her parents however Irie does claim that due to stress, it is quite likely she might have done it, after all, nothing can usually get past Ooishi.

Both Irie and Takano decide they need to get more results from Rika however this causes complaints by her mother to stop what they are doing to her. Both parties decide to let it be for the time being and that Rika won’t be forced to do anything anymore. However, Takano isnt going to be beaten yet and tells Irie to find another method.

That night, Mr Furude dies of some random illness while at a meeting and his wife commits suicide. Takano is rather pleased about this until some news comes in, Dr Takano is dead. When she leaves the funeral of him in tears, some men corner her and takes her to a board meeting. They have decided to cancel the project. Of course, it is only her that is being taken off the project and Irie may keep continuing to study it.

As Takano walks through the rain on her way home, a van pulls up to her and the person inside asks her to come in. When the ED is finished, a woman is inside and offers to continue funding her in the project. The episode ends here.

Review: First of all, when I first saw the lady in the car I thought, “Hang on, this character looks like Suingintou from Rozen Maiden” and when I looked it up, I found that her seiyuu is infact Tanaka Rie who did the voice of her in Rozen Maiden. back to business, despite my complaints about last episode, this episode seemed to have more in it to keep my interest. Seems like we are finally making some way into the past of Himizawa.

Next episode should be the last of Takano’s past with Satoshi being the one killed off alongside Satoko’s other guardians. This should also make references from Onikakushi-hen as that described alot of Satoshi’s antics before he was “Spirited Away”.
