OP Theme: Otome Chikku Shoshinsha Desu by Kitamura Eri, Shindou Kei, Kadowaki Mai [Youtube] – The opening theme itself could be one of the greatest opening themes of any anime this year. The music and animation were good but I would call the theme of the graphics to be… different…

ED Theme: Aijou Education by Little Non [Youtube] – This theme was rather fast paced which I like. It reminds me of the Negima!? Summer OVA opening theme with all the different graphics about in the screen. It can go dreadfully wrong in some cases however this time, it really did well!

Summary: Before the opening theme, the three girls are out on the roof of a shopping mall licking melting ice cream. The camera goes upwards into the sky and the screen goes to the opening. (I quite like that style of transition). Kokonoe, Kuro and Mimi are in the mall shopping for presents for their poor teacher Aoki-sensei. This involves reading books, jumping down stairs and going on rocking saddles at fast speeds.

The camera goes back to an event in the past with the three girls going through their teachers diary looking for ideas for present suggestions for him. Their sensei catches them and they run off with his diary while Kokonoe holds him back by flashing at him.

So the girls go to the lingerie store next and it seems that Kokonoe is planning on another one of her “Send pictures to sensei” plan. Problem is, Mimi is being teased by some older ladies with them comparing breast sizes, Kokonoe however, steps in and leaves the store with the others. Their mission to buy something fails so they decide to go to Kokonoe’s house for the night and make something for him. We do get a little daydream view of Kuro’s… crush on Kokonoe which I guess you can see from the images.

To sum up what happens when they get to her house, they all attempt to make different things for their sensei

  • Kokonoe paints a picture for him
  • Mimi makes a card for him
  • Kuro makes some sort of doll for him, which will be explained soon.

Also, Mimi develops a crush on Kokonoe’s guardian Reiji and Reiji spills milk over her as expected for an anime of this styling. So all the girls take a bath together and more or less torture Mimi in more than one way trying to embarrass her. They all have dinner after that which is nothing really special except proving that Reiji and Kokonoe are closer than first meet the eye.

When they all get into Pajamas, Mimi breaks the pink shirt of Kokonoe’s she borrowed so she uses Reiji’s shirt which sends her “over the moon” and Kuro uses one of Kokonoe’s shirts which also sends her “Over the moon”. That night, Reiji looks at photos of Kokonoe and her mother while she was still alive… he acts depressed during this scene.

The next morning, Aoki-sensei is in his classroom getting ready for class when a message comes in from his phone, it is a photo of a seemingly normal Kokonoe which he smiles at however another more… inappropriate images comes in after causing him to get angry at her. Outside his window, he sees the three girls who have written a sign on the concrete, Aoki’s crush Houin-Sensei walks by and sees the sign causing him to run off in embarrassment. However, that doll Kuro made was a fully functional voodoo doll which she uses to bend his head and cause him to fall over. Kokonoe jumps on him when he comes out chasing them, the OVA ends here.

Review: I have read a bit of the manga of Kodomo no Jikan and despite this episode, I know how serious this anime can get. After all this is the uncut, unviewable episode (Probably like Moetan episode 6). Since Moetan seems to be ending, I will most probably replace it with this series. The graphics and sound for this anime are very good despite the theme of it. Japan seem to be producing alot of moe series with good graphics…

The concept, despite some of the more questionable scenes, is quite interesting. It isn’t an adult abusing a child but more a child abusing a teacher. As seen from some of the scenes, this series also has a serious tone to it such as Kokonoe’s mother and what Reiji is doing because of it for example.

Anyway, not a terrible episode.
