This episode starts with Asuna doing a “weird” ritual in the dormitory bathroom dancing around in a fish costume that she borrowed from the students shouting out the name of the teacher she wants “Takahata!” and spitting out 65 fried Tofu with his name on it. She is awoken to her sences when her best friend Konoka comes in to take a bath. When she mentions that the time is 8:30 they realise that they will be late for school.
Next we see Konoka and Asuna quickly rushing to school. Seems like more than a couple of students forgot that it was first day since there are many other people rushing to get to school on time. Once again, Asuna starts going on about Takahata when suddenly a wind burst goes past her and Negi is standing right next to her. After looking at him like she has no idea how he got there he tells her that she has an aura of love. She suddenly halts and starts shouting at him. He mentions the ritual then she grabs his head and starts shouting at him some more.
After Konoka tells him that he is in the wrong campus and Asuna complains about him some more he ends up sneezing and causing wind to blow their skirts up. They then hear the bell so they leave him on the street and rush to the campus. We then get a view of each of the other 29 students of class 2-A including Haruna showing Nodoka some adult hentai books. Yue corrects Haruna and then we have the other two walk in.
When Ayaka complains that Asuna is in her class then we get our first view that they are commonly people who hate each other. When Negi walks into the class he ends up nearly having a blackboard eraser dropped on his head however due to his reflexes he uses a spell to halt it in mid air. Everyone freezes except Asuna who looks straight at Negi not affected by the spell. When Negi realises he deactivates the charm and falls into the traps set by the Fuuka, Fumika and Kaede. Everyone then believes that their trap was not used on their teacher but another student until Takahata walks him and announces him the new teacher of 2-A
The students then lunge towards him like he is some new thing that everyone must have. Chisame asks Takahata if this is true and he agrees that it is. Asuna starts insulting Negi but that is short lived until her and Ayaka gets into a fight. Negi tries to stop them but in the end Takahata comes in again and breaks them up. Negi then sneezes again and rips Asuna’s skirt right off. After Asuna gets a change of clothes their first lesson starts. Asuna is determined to get Negi to show off his magic to the whole class so she starts pelting bits of eraser at him however this doesnt work. Ayaka once again starts to use her powers as Student Rep and tells lies about Asuna to Negi again. Once again, they get into their second fight for the day.
They then all make plans to have a welcoming party for Negi and Ayaka makes Asuna do all the shopping. We then switch over to Negi and Takahata and he recieves a class roster and tells Takahata of his problems. We then go to Nodoka who is returning a large pile of books to the library where she is asked about Negi. We then switch back over to Negi who is drawing over Asuna’s picture of the roster when he notices Nodoka fall off the stairs and towards the ground. He casts a spell to slow her down. When he catches her, he looks around and notices Asuna was watching him the whole time.
